Feb. 7, (Wednesday), SPAWNERS will present Jim Hale, wildlife biologist and CCC Fish and Wildlife Committee, who will present a slide show on the wildlife that lives around us. He will discuss local wild life and Native American relationship to their environment. Feb. 8, (Thursday), the El Sobrante Valley Planning and Zoning Committee will review several on-going requests and projects, including: 1) an update on the proposed 9-lot subdivision on 1.37 acres at Valley View and Sunset Dr.; 2) the Trinity Lutheran Church's proposed 1 or 2 home subdivision on church property at 3301 Morningside Dr.; 3) the possible submission of a new project plan for the previously proposed Sleepy Hollow housing project at 5330 San Pablo Dam Road, which originally rezoned 1.5 acres from R-7 to P-1 to allow 15 single-family homes in clusters of 2 or 3, and removal of 33 trees; 4) a proposed 12-unit apartment conversion to condominiums at 4140 Fran Way; and 5) an application for a 2-lot subdivision at 6011 Rose Arbor Ave. For more information, call Eleanor Loynd at 223-6398. Feb. 14, (Wednesday), the El Sobrante Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) will hold its monthly public meeting. No information on this meeting was received. For more information, email rpender970@aol.com . Meeting: El Sobrante Library, 7:00 p.m.

Feb. 15, (Thursday), the County Service Area R-9 Citizens Advisory Committee will : 1) review and evaluate bids from potential contractors for the library's "Children's Reading Garden and Play Area" project. If any bids are in line with R-9 finances, construction in can begin in March; 2) discuss setting up an assessment district in El Sobrante to generate maintenance funds for parks. They will begin work on an assessment-district package of park proposals to win property owners votes; 3) discuss recruiting a new R-9 board member to replace a board member who is leaving the area. Feb. 17, (Saturday). Friends of Garrity Creek (FOGC) and the Hilltop Neighborhood Association (HNA) normally meet on the third Saturday of each month. * Feb. 19, (Monday), the Watershed Project will offers an educator workshop on watershed awareness, school gardens, stream ecology, and urban wildlife for grades K-6. Take home course readers with how-to information, activities, and curriculum correlated with state standards. Space is limited; pre-registration is required. Cost: $25.
